Hi All,

We left Smir on (of all days, Friday, the thirteenth of May) Winds varied and
we headed east in 5 to 20 knots. We stopped for the night in Fuengirola. The
marina was full so we anchored outside. The wind had been east when we
anchored, but then it switched to north for the night. That meant that we were
at right angles to the waves and the night was roily. The town was beautiful,
our first glimpse of the Costa del Sol. Big hotels and lovely apartment
buildings lined the sandy coast. It was beautiful, but with the rolling of
Tapestry, not a good night for sleeping.
So what about the 13th. Last year on Friday, August 13th, the Condo in
Florida was threatened by "Charlie." But yesterday all that happened
was that I lost the whole Win link program on the computer. That would mean no
more e-mail from the boat. But today, the 14th, we seem to have figured out how
to get it all back.
Landed in Velez this afternoon at about 3, after a spectacular downwind cool,
but sunny sail. Very Erie in May like. Squeezed into a tight spot at the Velez
Marina dock between a delightful Dutch couple and jagged rocks. We needed
groceries. Being Saturday afternoon, all local stores were closed. Elaine, on
Triumph, and Julie and I walked 3 Km. to a store and bought provisions. Taxied
back to the boats. Tonight, Julie and I went to a little restaurant on the
beach. They roasted fresh fish on a driftwood fire. Excellent.
Found a new aperitif tonight at the grocery. Called D.Y.C. Whiskey. How much
class can one country have?
